What do they expect us to do in here? For context, the waiting area is near the main entrance (away from everything else). JSX has it’s own designated space for passengers to wait (which was nice), but… …it’s basically a kitchen (stovetop and all). It was hard to tell really, with this being mid-November and all. Simple, casual, and…covered with what I think were left over Halloween decorations. Welcome to the Signature Flight Support Terminal here at SAN. I don’t like being told how to travel, basically. However, since I’m the kind of guy who actually likes to show up three hours before any flight, I pushed the envelope and decided to be there 45 minutes for departure time. That’s an email you’ll never get from Spirit Airlines! Unlike any other airline travel experience that I’ve ever had, JSX emailed me the day before departure informing me that it was OK to show up at the airport just 20 minutes prior to departure. FYI, the song that I used in the background for this was “Hemisphere” by Ooyy. I felt like I had to be on my best behavior, and holding my phone up to get video clips of everything felt awkward.Īnyway, since this was only a 45 minute flight, this one is a bit shorter than my usual videos. Since JSX flies out of the smaller executive terminals at all of the airports they serve, the vibe was completely different from a normal air travel experience. Basically, it’s hard not to feel exposed and vulnerable as I’m standing motionless (and mute) trying to grab a 15 second clip of something that normal people would never get video footage of (like a check-in desk). It’s the video footage which is more challenging. Getting the pictures that I need for my trip reports isn’t all that difficult. It is also not cool to tell people it will be 10 minutes when you know you have people that have been waiting for an hour or more STILL WAITING. Having people gathered in front of the airport waiting for shuttle service for hours after their flight is not cool. Nothing wrong with getting as much business as possible, but at least be able to accommodate and service the people. As I stood there for 45 minutes I watched this young lady direct everyone to the window area that had a line growing longer and longer down the side walk yet the people that had paid are still waiting to be picked up and only one van had come picking up only 7 people by that time. Well over there was an area with about 30 more people waiting for a shuttle so clearly it will be more than a 10 minute wait unless you have at least 3 shuttles in route. After purchasing my ticket I walked back over to give it to the young lady as she asked me to do and was told it would be about 10 minutes and to just stand over there. I was met by a young lady asking if she could help me so I told her I was trying to get a shuttle and she directed me to the Bell Trans window to purchase a ticket. Arrived in Las Vegas on 10/13/19 claimed my bags in baggage claim and walked out the glass doors to catch a shuttle to my hotel.
